Pirate Adventure

PostPosted by hippie_mama » Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:33 pm

I'm thinking a low-magic fantasy game with a customizable system like Tri-Stat (make your own races, classes, etc.); might throw in some steampunk-style tech if someone wanted to play a gadgeteer or something like that. The crew would probably be initially hired as privateers for a navy or something that would insure lots of action until the PCs decide on a direction. Most likely a Play-by-Post game. Any takers? I'm open to suggestions too.

I am so on this!

"I'm imagining Kiera Knightly, Katherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina and Meg Fox sitting around your map wearing bandanas vigorously shaking fists full of d20s." - Aval Penworth, in regards to a map I made
"We're talking about the GM that made us fight giant Fruit, Verd is totally unpredictable." - Nikurasu (one of my players)

Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me."--Ferris Bueller, 1986

By low-magic i mean there would probably be weapons and artifacts that did cool things, but not magic casters as such. Some races could have natural abilities that would be considered 'magic' and a tech item would probably be called magic, but that would be the extent of it. I don't really want to see spell lists here.

I'm pretty much ALWAYS up for a PbP, so if you've got the spot open and no one else wants it I would love to join your game :)

I'll just stay tuned

Hehe, well it's a ship, so the more players i have, the less NPCs are necessary. In other words: i don't think we'll ever approach 'too many players' status.

I'd like to play a mermaid-type race... i.e. humanoid but maybe with water abilities like swimming faster than a normal human, ability to breathe water, and ability to handle deep pressure. I'd be good for a pirate ship since I could go down after a sunken ship for any loot. Maybe like a water-based elf, or the guy from Hellboy! Yeah, that sort of race would be awesome, and would have a sonar-like ability.

That is, if you were keen on that sort of thing in a low-fantasy setting.

How about a guy that looks more or less normal, but has gills in an only slightly-conspicuous location?

Thats exactly what I was going for... maybe a bit of webbing between my fingers and toes... like Kevin Costner of Waterworld (has gills behind his ears that you can only see if you brush back his air and has webbing between his fingers and toes).
