HTML problems with rendering numbers in headers

PostPosted by verdilak » Wed Mar 24, 2010 3:50 pm

So, I am trying to do the following:
Code: Select all
<h2 style="margin-top: 0px">For Sale: $75,000-$85,000</h2>
However, it is showing up as
Code: Select all
For Sale: $,-$,

I have tried to use the html codes
Code: Select all
<h2 style="margin-top: 0px">For Sale: $&#55;&#53;,&#48;&#48;&#48;-$&#56;&#53;,&#48;&#48;&#48;</h2>

But it comes out the same way
Code: Select all
For Sale: $,-$,

And I am not finding any help for this problem online... any suggestions?

Never heard of this problem, its possible you have a conflict somewhere. I recommend not putting a style element in your code and instead use CSS to alter the h2 tag. Not sure if that will fix the problem, but its worth a shot. Could also be the size of the font having trouble with your margins in classes and attributes.

I got nothing. My HTML is rusty. I'll ask around at work tomorrow though.

Assuming you are talking about your dad's site, I looked at the code and you have some third party code in there altering the h2 tags, its what is causing the conflict. The way you handled it is perfectly fine, by just making that portion of text not use the h2 tag.

Yeah, I worked around it. I looked through all my scripst, both js and css, but I couldn't figure out what was altering the headers like that. *shrug*

My access to your JS pages has been cut off, but I believe it was something like Cufon Font something or another. It was setting up certain attributes for most of your header tags and is whats cauign the conflict.
