I stopped reading SP a long time ago (Around Branwen) at least religiously, it became less and less funny.

I am surprised you don't read Dominic Deegan Oracle for Higher, though. though

Its actually pretty decent, mostly serious with some bad puns/jokes once in a while. The characters aren't whinny, and the setting is unique.

Nodwick/Full Frontal Nerdity - Comics for tabletop gamers, served with a dose of linkdump.
XKCD - Math, science, and nerd jokes. Mostly good stuff.
Girl Genius - Steampunk with a large dose of cheesecake. Also, perhaps my favorite alt history setting.
Questionable Content - It's like Friends, except dysfunctional and funny.
Least I Could do - Lovable bastard runs amok.
Nerf Now! - Popular video games in a clean, crisp artstyle that ranges from adorable to cheesecake. You'll never look at TF2 or Starcraft the same way again.
Dawn of Time - Currently my favorite webcomic. Time traveling Victorian meets prehistoric free spirit and her adorable pet blue triceratops.
Erfworld - Gamer gets pulled into a world and game of his own creation. His ability to powergame proves to be a force of nature.
Pictures for Sad Children - Good enough to check every now and then. Kinda uneven, and it's gone downhill since it apparently abandoned its metaplot.
Bad Machinery - British schoolchildren solve mysteries.
GastroPhobia - Amazon outcast, her son, and her slave bumming around the Greece of Antiquity.
Darths and Droids - Star Wars screencapped and rewritten (DM of the Rings style). It's good enough that it made Jar Jar Binks likable.
Gunnerkrigg Court - Supernatural noir with themes of tension between man and nature. Protagonist easily mistaken for a Mary Sue at first, but it rapidly becomes apparent that everyone at the court has some sort of unique talent.
Something Positive - It's like Friends, except depressing.
Hark, a Vagrant - I'm not going to describe this one because anything I can come up with will be wrong. If you decide to read only one webcomic in this list, read Hark, a Vagrant.
Penny Arcade - The two friends playing video games webcomic that spawned the entire genre. Curiously, it has managed to suck a lot less than others following the same script. No real metaplot, so you can read the archives at your leisure.
Dresden Codak - Some think it's beautiful. Others think it's irritatingly pretentious. YMMV.
FreakAngels - Warren Ellis writes a webcomic in which superpowered youths that apparently caused the apocalypse try to fix their mistake by re-founding civilization.
Daisy Owl - Owl adopts space babies, is aided by his halfbreed polar/grizzly bear friend.
Lackadaisy - Prohibition-era sleepeasy run by cats. The use of anthropomorphic cats is to have more expressive characters, not for furry reasons.
Girly - A case of girl-meets-girl. The duo go on adventures.
Sparkling Generation Valkyrie Yuuki - Boy likes magical girl anime. Boy finds magical DVD and is turned into a magical girl-style Valkyrie.
Warbot In Accounting - Warbot tries to fit in with society.

This stuff ranges from only occasionally NSFW to frequently NSFW. I don't consider these to be pornographic, but you very well might. For your convenience, I've rated these from * (for only occasionally NSFW) to ***** (for frequently NSFW).
***Lego Robot - The work of a madman. It's hypnotic in its allure.
****Menage a 3 - It's like Friends, with fucking.
*****Oglaf - Dirty jokes told in a fantasy setting. This could very easily be confused with porn if it weren't so goddamn funny.
*Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic - Exactly as it says. Only rarely NSFW, and most of it's concentrated in the first couple hundred updates.
**The Meek - Newish comic. It's not exactly clear where it's going, but I give it the benefit of the doubt thanks to its GORGEOUS art.
